Daiichi Denzai (DID) has always been flexibly adapted to the fast-moving electronics industry. Here are the footprints of our history of advancement.
In 1968, DID got off to what seemed like a good start amid Japan’s rapid economic growth that had continued from the 50s. However, in the early 70s, soon after the company’s establishment, DID faced a series of crises such as the recession following the Nixon shock and material shortages due to the oil crisis. The key to surmounting these problems was DID’s business philosophy of providing customers with value-added products. In addition, DID’s profound meticulousness developed during the depression has allowed DID to realize debt-free operation until today. The first few years from the foundation of the company was the time when the basis for DID’s success was formed.

The office had an area only of just over 13 square meters, and there were only 2 employees, both of whom were Hisami’s relatives. Hisami started his company with one desk, one telephone, and a car for making deliveries.

When Japan’s economy was securely recovering as a result of financial measures and changes in industrial structures, for DID it was a time for patience. During this era, DID concentrated on its policy to focus on its own developed products. DID had made and sold a wide variety of own brand cables ahead of its competitors. DID’s value-added products, which were more than mere wires or cables were gradually enhanced during this time.

In the 1990s, DID’s business recovered primarily due to a strong performance of the Northern Kanto Sales Office. This was the fruit of steady efforts by DID to achieve business reforms during the time of patience, including development of new businesses and computerization of core corporate functions. It is notable that the Japanese economy was suffering from severe damage from the collapse of the economic bubble at that time. Meanwhile, in the late 1990s, the demand for semiconductors expanded due to the IT bubble, which led our major customers to start investing and consequently to our increased sales.
This was a turning point for our company, leading to high growth that continues today.

In 2005, when the economic wounds caused by the collapse of the bubble gradually started to heal in Japan, Takuya Umezawa assumed office as a new president of DID. He began operational reforms under the slogan, “the Second Foundation of the Company.” For example, the company started to hire new college graduates, and opened many factories and local branches to promote the “Area-Based, Customer-Oriented” principle. In 2007, DID constructed the current head office building in Chofu, Tokyo, and moved its operational headquarters. Having gained and secured strong footholds, DID has merged some companies of different industries and continues to take on challenges without losing momentum.
